Farm girl…

February 11th, 2012…

2nd day at our Moonee Beach House 🙂

Wait for meeeeeeeee!  Chasing after Uncle Roy to feed the chookies!

Yes, we do, we do love Ruby!!  Peering into the chookie shed 🙂

It had been raining… I turned around to take some macro shots of water droplets on foliage… turned back to discover you had found the leaking guttering and were standing under it having a lovely time!!  Give you a drip of water and you’re happy 🙂

Whilst the big kids were all at dance class, we explored the garden and fed the chooks and rabbits.  You loved it.  You also loved the kisses you got from Georgie the dog, finding it very amusing.

We all had fish and chips together for dinner…. yipppeeeeeee… you loved that, sitting up the table, saying “Everybody here” waving your little hand around.  “All the family!”… yep, that’s right, these wonderful friends are our family too 🙂

Bouncing baby!

February 10th, 2012…

Big day!  Knackered parents, but arrived at our gorgeous friends’ home safe and sound, ready for a lovely weekend!

Wee one, we got up at 4am, thinking that we could transfer you to the car and you would resettle and sleep for the first few hours of our drive to Coffs Harbour….. NOPE!  You were instantly alert and eyes wide with taking in a new adventure!  Mummy even sat in the back with you and pretended to be asleep in the hope it would help you go off….. but there was just too much to look at and take in… all the lights, a big tunnel and mummy in the back with you!

You stayed awake all the way to Ballina, where we stopped for breaky and then crashed out not long after that, sleeping until Coffs, so that worked ok in the end, you ratbag!

You were so excited to arrive at our beautiful friends’ house and see the big kids, the doggie, chookies, rabbits and their trampoline – “Ruby want jump trampline!!!  Boinga boinga!!”

There was no way you were going to settle for your usual middle of the day sleep… so we headed out to the tramp to play for a bit.  Mummy managed to hoist herself (and her insanely puffy right foot) up onto the tramp and sat there snapping away while you ran around like a crazy girl, throwing yourself at me or down to the floor on each lap!  I love this action shot, you were having such a good time and making Mama laugh off her grumps 🙂

Maybe you can talk Dadda into a tramp 😉 xx

It’s the other moments too, isn’t it… or maybe especially those moments, that you can’t/don’t capture with a camera, that are so precious   The ones where I wish I could blink my eyes and somehow a photo would be taken of exactly what I see (feel/hear…)… like stroking Ruby’s little fingers when putting her to bed tonight; her little sleeping face in the softly lit room; her shivers when playing under the cold water; the ‘mummy…MUMMY’ when she sees me after a time apart…. such blessings in the little things.

We went for a drive with Dondy and PaRoy today, to catch up with some special family friends.  You just wanted to explore!!  In the house, but especially outside… where there was an impressive set of playground equipment in their yard, complete with slippery dip; chooks and a chook shed; a toy car to pedal around; a trampoline; a pool and some guinea pigs!  This was your first meeting with a guinea pig and you told me “Ruby pat it!!”!  I’m not sure poor Vanilla was as keen on you as you were on her!  She was quite happy to eat the grass you kept plucking for her though.  You  wanted to keep feeding the guinea piggies and the chooks and had to be dissuaded from denuding Rae’s lovely mint plant to do so…

Mumma is very keen to get us a chook house and some chookies… you LOVE eggs and I would love for you to learn where they come from.  Guinea pigs also would be fun, but when you’re a little bigger I think.  It’s great that you love animals  🙂  You are so interested in exploring the world around you and all new things that come your way.  Keep that zest for life baby girl!  xox
